Celebrating the Spirit of Malwa: A Jhabua Milestone

Just before the world paused for the pandemic, a meaningful conversation took place between Mrs. Anshu Khanna, founder of Royal Fables, and myself. That conversation sparked a vision — to celebrate the legacy and cultural brilliance of the Malwa Royals of Madhya Pradesh. But more importantly, it was about highlighting the remarkable young Rajput women who continue to uphold their heritage in modern, dynamic ways.

Across Malwa, these women excel as doctors, linguists, art curators, chefs, and entrepreneurs. Their work goes beyond personal achievement; each carries forward traditions through jewellery design, textiles, crafts, culinary arts, and the preservation of family legacies. They reflect a lineage that is timeless yet evolving, rooted yet progressive.

This year, that vision comes alive beautifully in the 15th milestone edition of Royal Fables, scheduled for 22nd August at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi. The showcase brings together brilliant women creators and custodians of heritage, offering visitors a chance to meet them, experience their work, and support India’s artisanal traditions.

A warm thank you goes to Robb Report India for capturing this journey in their feature, A Day with the Royals in Indore. It offers a thoughtful glimpse into the lives, values, and artistry of the region.

As part of the Royal Fables journey, we curated a special look for the day, reflecting classic elegance and Malwa aesthetics. The saree, crafted by Just Chiffons and Jaykirti Singh, set a graceful tone. Jewellery by Amrita Rana Singh and Atul Jewellers added a touch of regal finesse. The ensemble and tableware styling by House of Shilpi Gupta and Kaunteya brought contemporary refinement to heritage motifs.

Culinary artistry played its own role, with delicacies created by Kitchen of the Kings, Gourmet Royal, Vijaya Singh of Jhabua, and Shivraj Limdi — each dish echoing the flavours and stories of royal kitchens. Hair and makeup were thoughtfully designed by Sonakshi Gujral and the Affinity Salon team, while the serene ambience of Jhabua Farms and Madhavi Zamindar’s estate formed the perfect backdrop for the tea shoot.

The 15th edition of Royal Fables stands not just as a showcase, but as a testament to culture, craft, and the women who keep them alive. It is an invitation for all to celebrate, shop, and support the artisans and custodians who carry India’s royal and artistic heritage into the future.
